For this class, they will need to purchase the following supplies: *Due this past Monday, Jan. 14th! This class is designed to provide the students with the opportunity to explore visual self-expression in a variety of two-dimensional drawing media, such as chalk pastel, ink, charcoal, pencil and color pencil. During this class, students will build upon their knowledge of the Art elements and apply that knowledge to creating advanced level drawings while learning about the principles of Art. They will develop skill in observational drawing, use of color, anatomical drawing, and calligraphy, while developing an individual approach to art media and techniques.
5
They will continue to critically examine prevalent artists and artistic periods throughout the history of Art. They will also learn how to talk about and evaluate works of art, including their own. Lastly, they will have the option to develop an AP portfolio in Drawing or Two-Dimensional Design.

What is class like everyday?
Students take their seats as soon as the bell rings. After attendance is taken, the objectives for the class are introduced. The rest of the class period consists of either introductory materials or discussion related to the current project, learning activities, or studio time. During studio time, which makes up the majority of the course, I walk around the classroom answering questions that may arise and encouraging students to put forth their best effort. This time is very valuable to student learning because they are able to put into practice the concepts and techniques which have been talked about in theory. The end of the class period is closed with some brief questioning; reviewing the objectives from that day, followed by clean up. When everything is cleaned up, they are dismissed.
