What Purpose has XINFO? XINFO helps projects like
maintain or reshape legacy applications merge, consolidate or separate datacenters clean up production environments convert scheduling systems and more … XINFO quick accurate helps to gather information like where is a program or dataset used? who is using/updating which DB2 table? where is a sub program, copybook or variable used? when and how did a (critical) job run, was it late? etc. …

Why an eclipse RDz plugin?
Eclipse is a development environment that is quite popular in Java development. RDz (Rational Developer for system z) is a development environment for z/OS (Cobol, PL/I). XINFO’s eclipse RDz plug-in allows to access XINFO tables directly out of eclipse based development environments like RDz or others. It’s a seamless integration into developer’s workbench. Following slides are showing a few samples to give a first impression. This button can be used to jump to specific slides in this presentation. How to work with XINFO, RDz (eclipse)
1) Start XINFO and Logon

Help manual If you need help click on “XINFO Online Help” to search for your problem If you need help click on “XINFO Online Help” to search for your problem

If you want to change the settings, click on “Options”
Change options If you want to change the settings, click on “Options” Go to “General Settings” to change e.g. “number of rows transferred from host” from 999 to 5000

Switch View Go to “View” to change between “Workspace Tree”, “Workspace List”, “Favourites” and “Shortcuts”

Create Favourites To add displays to your Favourites, just click with a right mouse click on the display and select “Add to Favourites”.

Create Shortcut Type in a name and apply
If you would like to create a shortcut, select a display, type in your search criteria and click on “Actions…” and select “Create Shortcut…”

Use of SQL If you want to see the SQL, click on “Actions…” and select “Show SQL” …

… and save, load or execute your SQL.

Edit SQL If you would like to change the displayed columns, click on “Show SQL” and e.g. display only the first two

Click on “Execute” to apply the new SQL

Legend If you don’t know what “F” or “R” means, click on “Show Legend” to see the full name of the column

More search criteria fields
If you need more search criterias, click e.g. on “Jobname”. You can now apply a additional search criteria with “OR” and “AND”

You can delete the extra field with a click on “Actions…” and “Reset”.

Group (by) If you would like to Group your result click on “Group” and select a column. If you would like to Group your result click on “Group” and select a column.
