Air Has Mass I knew I shouldn’t have eaten all that air. AIR AIR

5 www.makemegenius.com What is in the Air?
People generally believe that air is composed mostly of oxygen. In fact, they frequently use the terms "air" and "oxygen" interchangeably. This is a misconception. The content of oxygen in the air is relatively small when compared to the gas nitrogen.

6 Air Pressure is . www.makemegenius.com
Hey!! Get away from me! Air Pressure is . the force that air molecules push down on a surface. AIR AIR AIR AIR AIR It’s all around us. . . Like it or not… AIR AIR AIR

7 is not the same everywhere on earth.
Air Pressure is not the same everywhere on earth.

8 Things that effect Air Pressure
Altitude (Elevation) Temperature Humidity (moisture in the air)

9 Altitude The higher the altitude, the lower the air pressure.
The lower the altitude, the higher the air pressure.

10 Temperature As the temperature goes up, the air pressure goes down. (hot molecules are further apart- less pressure). As the temperature goes down, the air pressure goes up. ( cold air is more dense than warm air).

11 Humidity Humidity is the amount of moisture in the air.
Water vapor weighs less than air molecules. As the air becomes more humid, the air pressure goes down (moist air weighs less than dry air). Drier air has higher pressure because dry air weighs more than moist air, therefore it has greater pressure.
