Do you have a fixed or growth mindset
Do you have a fixed or growth mindset? Answer these questions about intelligence. Decide if you agree or disagree with it. Your intelligence is something very basic about you that you can’t change very much. You can learn new things, but you really can’t change how intelligent you are. No matter how much intelligence you have, you can always change it quite a bit. You can always substantially change how intelligent you are.
7
How Did You Do? Questions 1 & 2 are fixed mindset questions
Questions 3 & 4 are growth mindset questions Most people lean towards one or the other mindset You can substitute your beliefs about other abilities in place of intelligence Are there certain beliefs you have about yourself that fit into either mindset?
8
You can substitute other beliefs about yourself, such as personality traits
For example: 1. You are a certain kind of person, and there is not much that can be done to change that. 2. No matter what kind of person you are, you can always change substantially. 3. You can do things differently, but the important parts of who you are can’t really be changed. 4. You can always change basic things about the kind of person that you are.
9
Are these different for you?
“Intelligence Mindset” = Perception of Mental Ability “Personality Mindset” = Perception of your Personal Qualities When looking at the Personality Mindset – Fixed Mindset makes you concerned with how you will be judged Growth Mindset makes you concerned with improving.

Try it out! Imagine you are taking a foreign language for the first time. A few sessions into the class, the professor calls you to the front of the room and starts asking you questions, one right after the other. Put yourself in a fixed mindset – how would you react? Put yourself in a growth mindset – how would you react? Guess what? You can change your mindset!
