Background – Spring 2017 Alief District of Innovation Committee work demonstrated a strong interest in the development of an International High School Dual Language Students from cohort I are now in 8th grade – what would be a natural transition for them? Site visits conducted in Houston, San Antonio including public, private and charter models.

Meeting with interested stakeholders – Summer 2017
Met with Houston and Alief Business Leaders who have previously expressed interest in the establishment of an International School Met with members of International Management District (IMD)

International Studies Schools Network (ISSN) – Summer 2017
Research indicated ISSN was the premier non-profit in supporting districts interested in establishing schools with a global design. Originally funded with a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ISSN started in 2003 Has helped start and is supporting 27 campuses across the United States

What is the ISSN? Network of schools dedicated to providing ALL students the tools, skills, and knowledge for success in a global economy. Committed to closing the achievement gap and the opportunity gap. Focused on capacity-building and sustainability

Meeting with ISSN Videoconference with Associate Director of International Studies Schools Network (ISSN) ISSN is able to provide: Professional Learning Community of 27 schools On-site and/or Virtual Coaching Online Staff Development Partnership with Arizona State University School Design and Curriculum Resources School Based Assessment

September 2017– Report and Discuss International School and ISSN potential partnership with School Board October 2017: MOU Development with ISSN for Board Workshop

October 2017 Meet with ISSN Coach for goal-setting session November 2017: ISSN School Design coaching, Intro for Leaders in Denver, CO (Nov. 8-9) December 2017: Participate in Virtual Leaders Seminar, School Design Coaching
