2 Location in the World Islam is located all around the world. Primarily, Islam is centralized in the Middle East but the majority, 62%, live in the Asia-Pacific area. Mecca (Right) Dome of Rock (above) Medina (Right)

3 Changes of Islam Umayyad Caliphate moved the capital from Mecca to Damascus Abbasid Caliphate moved the capital back to Baghdad. Another major change was in the gender relationships where women enjoyed a more active and stronger voice in society and were allowed to take highly valued roles in government, business, and education.

4 Continuity Islam stayed the same in several aspects, such as its steadfast beliefs and its academic achievements in math, science, and literature.
