1 Nepal Nepal is in south Asia.
In the north of Nepal, there are 8 of the world’s tallest mountains. Includes Mount Everest (part of the Himalayas). Earthquake Facts On 25/04/2015 a 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Nepal. 17 days later a 7.3 magnitude struck again. Number of people killed: 8,617 Number of people injured: 16,808

2 Destructive plate boundary
What does a destructive plate boundary look like? Find a diagram! Sometimes called a convergent boundary. What happens at this boundary? Does it cause any natural disasters? Give an example of where there is a destructive plate boundary. Keywords Continental crust Tectonic plates Oceanic crust Magma Volcanoes Lava Earthquakes Convection current Density Friction

3 Collision plate boundary
What does a collision plate boundary look like? Find a diagram! What happens at this boundary? Does it cause any natural disasters? What land forms can it build? Give an example of where there is a collision boundary. Keywords Continental crust Tectonic plates Fold mountains Epicentre Earthquakes Fault lines Friction Convection current

4 Constructive plate boundary
What does a constructive plate boundary look like? Find a diagram! Also called a divergent plate boundary. What happens at this boundary? Does it cause any natural disasters? Give an example of where there is a collision boundary. Keywords Continental crust Tectonic plates Oceanic crust Volcanoes Magma Earthquakes Friction Convection current

5 Conservative plate boundary
What does a conservative plate boundary look like? Find a diagram! Also called a transform plate boundary. What happens at this boundary? Does it cause any natural disasters? Scientists believe there will be a huge earthquake in San Francisco in the near future. Why? Keywords Continental crust Tectonic plates Oceanic crust Magma Earthquakes Shockwaves Friction Convection current

6 Seismic Waves What are seismic waves? Describe the different types.
Can you draw a diagram to show the seismic waves travelling through the earth during an earthquake? What are seismic waves? Describe the different types. When are they produced? How do we measure these waves? What have these waves taught us about the structure of the Earth? Keywords Seismic Waves P and S Waves Inner core Outer core Earthquake Vibrations Seismograph Epicentre
