3. Foundation Stage
The Early years Foundation Stage (E.Y.F.S) the stage of education for children from birth to the end of Reception year. This creates a National Curriculum for 5s and under.
It is based on the recognition that children learn best through play and active learning.
There are 7 areas of learning and development.
All areas of learning are reflected inside and outdoors.

You can help by encouraging your children to be independent, fastening their own coats, using the toilet independently and washing their hands.

Talk about what you are writing and for what purpose.
Show that you can make mistakes and that its ok to make mistakes.
Encourage children to write at home, help you with list making, signing their own name on cards.

Maths Mastery –
Children are encouraged to physically represent mathematical concepts. Objects and pictures are used to demonstrate and visualise abstract ideas, alongside numbers and symbols.
Mathematical concepts are explored in a variety of representations and problem- solving contexts to give pupils a richer and deeper learning experience.

Talk about shapes you see in the environment

27. Foundation Stage Profile
At the end of the Reception we will complete an assessment which is known as the EYFS Profile.
Based on what we have observed during your child’s time in the EYFS.
The information collected is used to evaluate how your child is doing in the 7 areas of learning and development.
