Hydroxyapatite The main mineral component of human teeth and bones
Introduction Hydroxyapatite The main mineral component of human teeth and bones Non-Immunogenic Non-inflammatory HAp has all characteristics features of Biomaterial Biocompatible Bioactive Osteoconductive Non-toxic HAp Synthetic hydroxyapatite [Са10(РО4)6(ОН)2 ]the best biocompatible material

Introduction Hydroxyapatite (HAp) have been explored considerably over the last many decades due to its potential Bio-medical and industrial applications. HAp is white , naturally occuring apatite also have brown, yellow , or green colorations. 50% of bone is made up of a modified form of the inorganic mineral HAp known as bone mineral. HAp could synthesis by various physico-chemical methods such as sol gel, hydrothermal, ball milling etc. Green synthesis pave the way to avoid hazardous chemical, sophisticated instruments which reduces the cost.

Introduction Moreover, recycling of waste material is widely assumed to mitigate resource scarcity, which decreases environmental pollution and minimize energy consumption. Literature survey gives the evidence for use of nano-HAp and nanostructured bio-material as artificial bone material have the ability to develop & design the properties analogous to the natural bone.

Introduction Research on Biomaterials and Nano-biomaterials for bone implantation & replacement has expanded considerably over the last four decades. This research in India is of utmost importance. With this motivation, in the present study, ultrasound assisted biosynthesis of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles (Bio-HAp) has been demonstrated using extract of Gram bean (Cicer arietinum L.).

Methodology

Characterization: X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), FT-IR, Raman spectroscopy.

XRD spectra of (-) Bio-Hap, (-) Bio-HAp600

Result and Discussion (a) (b) (b)
Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of (a) Bio-Hap, (b) Bio-HAp600

FTIR of Bio-HAp and Bio-HAp600

Raman spectra of Bio-Hap600

Conclusion Successful synthesis of Bio-HAp from eggshells by using gram bean extract and sono-chemical method . This was confirmed by the XRD, FT-IR and Raman spectra. The morphology of the synthesized Bio-HAp crystals was examined by SEM.
