Location & Staff Located in Room 11, Bowman Hall --Lower Level of Bowman Hall Staff – 1 Director, 6 Advisors includes Transfer Liaison Support Staff – 1 Office Manager, 1 Program Assistant

What we do Use Developmental Advising approach w/ students
Advise First Year and Undecided Students Assist Transfer Students in their transition Use 4 year plan / 8 semester sequence Work with Undecided students -- ~ 250 students Teach Seminar In Career Exploration (100+ students/ year) Administer Self-Assessment Tools (MBTI, Strong, Strengths) --~ 400 per year Coordinate First Year Registration & Orientation in summer and in January

What we do …continued Academic Update Program ie Early Alerts will involve many faculty teaching first year students Coordinates non-degree seeking student course registration (ie special students) Serve on many campus committees

How we work together Advisors meet with PDs at least 1x/year to get updated on programs, concerns, changes Communication both ways to provide accurate, consistent and timely information Course availability especially during summer – generally work with Associate Deans Change of Major Forms – process 4,000+ forms 3 & 4 Year Graduation Guarantee – using Image Now to expedite process Transfer students transition process is smoother and more students are being registered in a timely fashion Change of Major forms are electronic – easy for students
