Class summary In this presentation we will discuss how to create and store standard parts (components) into a library, and how to build and store standard configurations of those parts into a catalog of controlled circuits.

Has worked in Substations for the last 3 years. Responsible for standardizing ACADE, in association with Vault as well, for use in Duke Energy for substation design practices with the focus on Utility Industry standards and practices.

Use the 3 major attributes of an AutoCAD Electrical Component to make it searchable, orderable and updatable Tag = Wiring Name (Name on Wiring Print) Location Code = The Physical Location Installation Code = Zone of Protection (Bank 1, Bus 2, etc.)

What is an ACADE circuit?
A Circuit in ACADE is collection of parts in a module or multiple components or modules that are built together to form a single representation that can be inserted as one selection.

Two Types of Circuits Modules – is a combination of components that have a common SINGLE Parent device that holds material ordering information. Schemes – is a combination of components and modules to create a standard specific to a design built around a drawing type.

Save Circuit Lets our users stay in a single environment(Icon Menu) to access the Standard Designs along with individual components if needed. Easy to create while building from already created ACADE parts. No custom programing needed (circuit builder) Can control the standards more effectively using Vault. Very little learning curve to teach the Parts Builders

This is a method for making it configurable Makes the user delete the parts of the standard circuit if not needed, puts the designer in control but still starting off with a agreed standard Easy way to control which parts are editable to the end user

Putting the SEL Together (Building)
Add the Pinlist information in the Pinlist table for the SEL using the format of (1,A01,A02*IN102) in the Catalog Database (Pinlist_type,Pin#, Pin#,*I/O State) You add your parent device first in the drawing Start to build the SEL with all of the needed I/O and using the parent child ability, link the child I/O. Create the SEL as a Save circuit, place in Vault and create the Icon menu button for access to the SEL in the menu

How to Build the Separate SEL Parts to Standards
For all microprocessor relays, the power supply will be the parent. Relay inputs shall clearly indicate the relay’s primary use (INST), name (DESC1), input number (state), and purpose of the input (DESC2). Relay outputs shall clearly indicate the relay’s primary use (INST), name (DESC1), output number (state), and purpose of the output (DESC2). Normally Open (1), Normally Closed (2) and Form C (3) outputs will follow AutoCAD Electrical standard pin assignments. AutoCAD Electrical allows the user a method of identifying pins which may not be normally open (NO) or normally closed (NC) as found on general relays. A user defined terminal starting with “4” as been established and will be utilized for various terminal types. The Pinlist standard name will be put in a attribute called PINLIST_TYPE PROTECTIVE RELAY PINLIST TYPE LEGEND OUTPUTS 1 -NORMALLY OPEN CONTACTS 2- NORMALLY CLOSED CONTACTS 3 -FORM C CONTACTS 4S -SPECIAL OUTPUTS (TRANSISTORS) INPUTS 4N- INDIVIDUAL CONTROL INPUTS 4NM-CONTROL INPUTS WITH A COMMONTERMINAL 4V -VOLTAGE ELEMENT INPUTS 4C -CURRENT ELEMENT INPUTS SPECIAL 4CM -COMMUNICATION / CLOCK TERMINALS 4PB -PUSHBUTTONS 4LT -LIGHTS/LEDS 4DC -DC MONITOR

Adding User interacted menu selections
In the Schematic Icon menu create a folder that will house all of the SEL configurations Each is broken down by a SEL type folder 351, 531, 351S, etc. Have a folder setup to house the individual parts so that the user can access the individual parts needed to add to the current SEL. Also used for the Parts Builder to create the Standard SEL configuration

Schemes with Project file (.wdp) Schemes by drawing type accessed from a circuit icon menu

Schemes with Project File (.wdp)
Definition: A scheme that is created and saved with a .wdp file associated with it, and is used as a starting point for a project, if that project does not exist in ACADE. All necessary drawings and the .wdp file are saved together. Use the Copy Project function to initiate

Definition: A Scheme that is created and saved by its necessary parts by drawing type and accessed from the icon menu as needed, by drawing type. Saved under a common folder in both the Icon menu and file structure Can also be created form existing schemes with .wdp file

Use a standard set of wildcards, ACADE can take advantage of replacing those wild cards, using export/import, with station specific data Also can create custom coding to make the input easier

Benefits of Saving Schematic/Wiring/Panel/Circuit using Vault
Currently Saving out on a LAN share drive that only certain personnel have access to for creating or editing Have a routine to run on user machine to copy down to C: Drive Issue is that the current process is a Save As type function With Vault integration Have a Version history to see evolution of standard circuit Gives us the ability to go back and revive previous approved versions if needed Have a real-time approval standard circuit workflow All users working off of local C: drive and eliminate cross-contamination

Create a common folder structure that will be used for Vault storage and end user access Create separate revision categories in Vault to separate components vs. circuits Create the components/circuits, along with .png image files, as you would without Vault while logged into vault using symbol builder

Attach the .png file to the .dwg. Then delete the image in the .dwg to not have it show in the component or circuit. It is still attached for edit simultaneously with the component or circuit Check it into Vault in the correct location and set to an Ready for Approval state

QA Process for ACADE symbols using Vault
Create a search filter for QA to see what is needing approval If not approved, the Master Librarian is the only one who can set the item back to a Work In Progress state and notify the Parts Builder to correct errors. If approved, the Master Librarian is the only one who can set to a Release state, this makes it available to the end users to download and use from there working location

Releasing ACADE components/modules/schemes using Vault
Setting the components/modules/schemes to a released state in Vault User download only the LASTEST release versions even if there are some in the next rev work in progress state. Master Librarian has the final say on what is released to the public Retains archived versions to go back to or review if needed.

Setup a catalog families with a Z prefix to have the ability to upgrade to new version of ACADE without impact from out of box family codes Using the Use Misc_Cat table only if component specific table does not exist option Access the custom defined user family codes (not block name)

Using the WDBLKNAM attribute in components Added to Parent device, Wiring diagram, and Panel only, Not child components Add the Z prefix the matches the family needed Ex: block name HPR1_XXXX.dwg in the WDBLKNAM value is ZPR

Using the Panel BOM to include the Schematic
Catalog Extract Using the Panel BOM to include the Schematic Only select the schematic drawings and panel drawings. Do not include the wiring, as they are already in the schematic. Extract to .csv file extension format to import into a ERP system using an custom import.

Start with single line and three line drawings first. Then complete Panel, Wiring, and Schematic drawings in that order This allows for a quick BOM production, if needed To access the information from the Panel, use the Manufacturer option to apply the equivalent wiring diagram
