Compound Noun Is made of two or more words used together as a single noun. May be written as: -a single word: liftoff, spacecraft, footsteps, birthday -two or more separate words: rocket engine, peanut butter, police officer -a hyphenated word: light-year, self-esteem, sister-in-law, great-grandmother

Nouns as Subjects and Subject Complements
A noun can be the subject of a sentence, or it can work as a complement.

Subject A subject tells whom or what the sentence is about. Comets are made of ice, dust, and gas.
