4 Overall E & F Scheduling Process
Pre-Appointment Look over resources and investigate clerkships and electives that interest you Think about when you need time off for Step study and residency interviews (typically 4 consecutive weeks for each) Phase 1 Students will be assigned an appointment time in a random order Schedule 1 sub-internship or 1 advanced patient care clerkship Schedule two 4-week electives Schedule no more than eight credits per quarter, to evenly distribute clerkships throughout the year for all students Phase 2 Students will be assigned an appointment time in the reverse order of the Phase 1 appointments (the last will be first) Schedule your other advanced patient care clerkship/sub-internship Schedule the remaining three 4-week electives Schedule no more than eight credits per quarter to evenly distribute clerkships throughout the year for all students Phase 3 Rearrange clerkship schedule as necessary, always remaining at grad requirements

5 What if I need to Change my Phase 1 or Phase 2 Appointment Time?
If you have a time conflict, you may swap appointment times with another student or take an empty appointment slot of your choosing AFTER your originally assigned time.  You must notify your scheduler of your plans You may not move your appointment to earlier than your originally assigned time. If you miss your appointment or if you're late, you can reschedule for the next empty appointment slot AFTER your assigned time. You can also keep your assigned appointment time if you're late, but, to keep things as fair as possible, your appointment must end at the assigned time.

6 Scheduling Resources Clinical Calendar (blogs.uw.edu/medevalu/files/2017/10/ Clinical- Schedule_ pdf): lists your graduation date and clerkship timeframes, and will list the dates of Capstone and Hooding  E*Value Portal ( students/technology/e-value): lists the currently clerkship availability, your clerkship evaluations, your current clerkship schedule, and much more! E*Value Guide (  lists tutorials for how to use E*Value (how to access your automatically updating schedule report/roster, look up availability, review clerkship evaluations, etc.) Permission-Only List ( hBnXxenYpNxW5Ql0M2UBz-KLRBA4/edit#gid=0 ): lists the clerkships that require departmental approval before registering Clerkship Blog ( lists the general clerkship information, clerkship admin contact information, and much more! The Add/Drop Policy (Clerkship Add/Drop Policy)

7 Pre-Appointment Before scheduling your clerkships, it may be helpful to: Review the clerkship options:  department/ Reach out to the career advisors to determine which clerkships would be beneficial for your career path:  students/student-affairs/career-advising Determine if you need departmental permission:  hBnXxenYpNxW5Ql0M2UBz-KLRBA4/edit#gid=0 Review EValue Availability:  program/current-students/technology/e-value The zeroes in EValue mean no availability while the positive integers mean that there's a spot available. Please disregard the question marks or bolded/un-bolded differentiation. Please select multiple clerkship choices in case your first choice is unavailable – what's your back-up plan if the first version of your ideal schedule is not possible?

8 Phase 1 20 minute appointment with a scheduler Requirement:
Add one sub-internship or advanced patient care clerkship in your field of interest Add two 4-week electives Add only eight credits per quarter to evenly distribute clerkships through the year If needed, rearrange required neurology and emergency medicine electives Updating your schedule may be possible during future scheduling phases, depending on clerkship availability

9 Phase 2 20 minute appointment with a scheduler Requirement:
Add one sub-internship or advanced patient care clerkship Students may only have one sub-internship at this point (you can swap your advanced patient care clerkship for a sub-I after all students have scheduled at least one sub-I).  Add three four-week electives or enough clerkships/electives to your schedule to reach graduation requirements. Once your Phase 2 schedules are set, any future schedule changes must ensure you remain at graduation requirements Students should have at least one rotation in Spring 2018, Summer 2018, Autumn 2018, and Winter 2019 If needed, rearrange required neurology and emergency medicine electives  Updating your schedule may be possible during future scheduling phases, depending on clerkship availability

10 Phase 3 Call, visit A300, or complete the online Clinical Registration Form to request changes to your schedule Any changes you make must keep you at graduation requirements. For example, if you drop 8 credits of electives, you must replace these 8 credits elsewhere in your schedule or with a different course Any changes made to your schedule must be made at least six weeks in advance of the start date, or require departmental permission or Dean approval (Dean approval can be used for late drops only) Clerkships' permission-only statuses will continue into Phase 3

11 Expanded Students Students that began the clinical curriculum prior to 3/27/2017 will generally be held to the E14 graduation requirements.  Your Phase 1 & 2 will be similar to previous elective scheduling periods. Phase 1: Students can add one elective in the first half of the academic year and one in the second half of the academic year Phase 2: Students can add credits until they reach the graduation minimum To be as fair as possible, Spring C 2018 scheduling will only be available during or after Phase 1 of the current scheduling cycle. Please contact us if you have any questions about the graduation requirements that apply to you.
