25
Examples Aviva China Light and Power Wates
26
Why have a responsible business strategy?
Achieve value for all stakeholders – what does this mean? Reduces risk for the business Supports a financially stable business Helps engagement with stakeholders Powerful force for good
27
Stakeholder engagement
Any good responsible business strategy will involve stakeholder engagement Internal stakeholders need to understand why and what you’ll do – important to get their buy-in External stakeholders can help you shape what you include
28
Materiality? What matters most to YOU Think about your core business – if you manufacture paper then environmental issues such as bio-diversity will be important Include what your stakeholders think Look at frameworks such as the B Corp model to see if they fit your organisation
29
Goal setting What do you want to be known for? What do you want to achieve by when? How will you know that you’ve been successful? How will you communicate your success? Will you link it to any frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals?
