4 3 GENERAL Always use your Administration Guide for every administration, even if you administer the Tejas LEE on a handheld device. When re-administering a section at EOY, administer all of the items, even if the student had some correct at MOY.

5 4 GENERAL Use your professional judgment to decide whether to count comprehension questions correct when the student answer isn’t in the Teacher’s Guide. Do not pause an administration in the middle of a section. Pause only between sections. Both reading comprehension stories should be administered together as they are ONE section.

6 5 KINDERGARTEN Be sure to give both practice items before continuing on with the actual test items. Students must provide real or nonsense rhyming words. Sections 1 & 2: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY as all students should have mastered this task (NI=0-25, D=26-30). This slide has 1  CLICK of animation. SAY: Rhyming is a challenging skill to develop for many young readers. It is key that the instructions and the practice items be given in their entirety to ensure that students understand this task. DO: Draw participants’ attention to the Instrucciones section.  CLICK Either read or have a participant read through the bolded, italic (Teacher stated) text on this slide. Allow participants 2 minutes to practice this section with a partner. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR PRESENTER: Although, Spanish has two types of rhyming words, we will only test rima consonante. Below is some background information on both types. Type: Rima consonante Rule: All final sounds are identical starting with vowel in stressed syllabe. Examples: casa, masa ; pestaña, España; vestido, apellido Type: Rima asonante Rule: All final vowels are identical starting with vowel in stressed syllable. Examples: casa, drama; pestaña, bala; vestido, chiquito

7 6 KINDERGARTEN Sections 6 and 7: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY (NI=0-6, D=7-8). Section 8: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY (NI=0-6, D=7-8).

8 7 KINDERGARTEN Section 9: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY (NI=0-8, D=9-10).

9 8 KINDERGARTEN Section 10: NEW Story, “Mario el mago”.

10 KINDERGARTEN 9 Section 11: **NEW** Reading Comprehension is administered for the first time, but ONLY to those who scored D on Sections 4 & 5. For students who scored NI on Sections 4 & 5, administration ends with Section 10.

11 10 KINDERGARTEN Entry Point Rules apply to Sections 1-9 and the Optional Section. If a student scored Desarrollado at BOY or MOY, these sections should not be re-administered. Entry Point Rules DO NOT apply to Listening Comprehension. This section is ALWAYS administered.

12 11 FIRST GRADE Sections 5 & 6: There is no longer an NE Performance Level at EOY as students should have mastered this skill (NI=0-8, D=9-10).

15 FIRST GRADE 14 Entry Point Rules apply to Sections 1-7 and 9.
