3 A promise given (Gen 12) I will give into your hands the people who live in that land, and you will drive them out before you! Ex 23:31-33 (NIV) Prepare yourself (Numbers 1-11) Prepare for war Prepare for conflict Prepare, by being pure

4 A promise missed (Num 14) We would rather have died in Egypt, lets go back! (Numbers 14) God’s priority was still to deliver the promise made for His people to enter the land God’s promises to Abraham were not going to be thwarted by human disobedience!

5 A promise squandered (Josh 1:1-9)
Vs 1-4 – Go into the land! Vs 5-6 – I will not leave you not forsake you! Vs 7-8 – Hold fast! Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, discouraged – I am with you!

They squander the promise: Judges: Vs 1-3 – They failed to keep to the covenant Vs 4-16 – God raises up Judges – He is faithful! Vs – Israel slumps into demise and ruin! The OT is longing for more – it points to a deeper promise and a better land!

7 A promised Saviour God promised a land – Israelites fail! God promises a land – Jesus wins! Hebrews 11:16 God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them!

8 A promised Saviour Are you ready? Are you longing for the promise?
Be prepared for the battle Be prepared for conflict Hold fast – be pure! We have the CERTAIN hope of a promised land – a city – through Jesus and His Cross!
