Hydrologic Engineering Center
HEC is part of the Institute of Water Resources in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Designated "Center of Expertise" for hydrology and closely related areas. The HEC mission it to take the state-of-the-art research in water resources and make it usable by practicing engineers. Most of our products are software with supporting documentation.

Selected Software Products
HEC-HMS for hydrology. HEC-RAS for one-dimension hydraulics. HEC-ResSim for reservoir simulation and operation. HEC-FDA for risk-based project evaluation. HEC-FIA for real-time damage impact estimation. HEC-EFM for environmental impacts due to flows. HEC-WAT for integrated project planning.

Availability All software is designed primarily for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. All software and documentation is available on our website with no fee or charge to download. We do not have funding to provide technical support. We will answer any question about a problem with the software that appears to be an error.

Capacity Building We have an extensive schedule of training courses on the use of the software products. These courses are offered for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, but extra space is available to anyone. Requires additional coordination if a student is from a different country, because of our military affiliation. It is now becoming common for our trainers to go to other countries to provide courses for students. Some examples: Afghanistan, Iraq, Kenya, Ethiopia, Guyana, Hungary.
