PROTEINS: Membrane proteins bring materials into the cell and receive signals from outside the cell
Integral proteins: help things move into the cell which are either too large to do it themselves or they have a charge and can’t get in
Peripheral proteins: located inside the cell membrane and receive signals from other cells by attaching to the lipid bilayer membrane
