2 Aims Welcome to St Mary’s! This document will help:
to outline the Curriculum that your child will be following in P3. to provide an overview of some of the topics and activities that your child will be participating in this year (Learning Plan)

3 General Information Morning 8 – 8.45 Breakfast Club
9am – Children can come into school playground 9.15 – Bell for beginning of classes After 9.15 am – marked late Afternoon Finish 2pm. From Jan 3pm except Friday-2pm

4 General Information Dinners – Currently £2.60 per day, £13.00 per week (in envelopes on Friday only) Breakfast Club – £1.00 per morning Uniform Full uniform should be worn at all times. PE – Thursday (another PE day will be selected in term 2 & 3 and you will be informed) – wear PE uniform into school.

Concentrates on developing children’s knowledge, attitudes, skills, relationships, behaviour, TSPC, emotional awareness, values and life skills. Living Learning Together Box

9 Reading Shared Reading Big Books Guided Reading Running Records
Book Banding Scheme Develop comprehension skills and answering in full sentences. Easy Reads Library Books – change once a week Silent Reading Important to develop a child’s interest in reading.

10 Literacy Variety of forms studied Story settings/Characters in books
Traditional Stories Poetry Author Study Punctuation-Capital letters, full stops, question marks, commas in lists, speech marks Phonics-Initial letter sounds, medial letters, blends, Linguistic Phonics Approach

12 Religion Grow in Love Programme Teaching of Jesus
Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter Importance of Blessing yourself Class Assembly Visit to church Mass

13 Homework Aim To consolidate and reinforce the learning skills and knowledge that has gone on in school. Spellings, Reading, Maths, English, other activities related to class work 15-20 mins Important to check and sign homework

14 Reporting to Parents/Assessment
Parent/Teacher meeting December 21st Reports in June Primary 7 newsletters Assessment Term 3 –English and Maths Standardised Tests
