halFILE CD’s Secondary backup only – you are responsible for your data and image backups. Only contains data for documents with an image. Index without an image data not on CD.

NAS Backup Gotchas Still need off-site
May not be able to go back to various points in time (2 weeks ago, 3 months ago, 1 year ago)

NTBackup – 2003 Server Included with OS Volume Shadow Copy enabled
Capable of backing up most open files without additional cost Handles managed / unmanaged media Requires scripting for running as a scheduled service

SP_HFWBackup If you add a halFILE database you must add a new step to the backup job for it to be included in the flat file backup. Files typically in \halfile\database\backup

What to backup? All SQL Database files with SP_HFWBackup
All image files – typically \halfile\baskets\ and locations in Configure Drives \halFILE Program directory IIS Configuration and e.halFILE web-site

Disaster Recovery Planning
Figure out how long you can afford in terms of down-time Document a plan for recovering an entire server to its current state that fits into your down-time vs. cost analysis Other than backup what else do you need? (cd’s for OS, Crystal, halFILE, backup, etc.) Test your plan
