3. Boston marathon bombing
A news story that has always really stuck out for me was the boston marathon bombing. On April 15, 2013, two homemade bombs detonated 12 seconds and 210 yards apart at 2:49 p.m., near the finish line of the annual Boston marathon bombing, killing three people and injuring several others, including 16 who lost limbs. On april 18th the FBI released images of two suspects who were immediately identified as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The brothers killed an MIT policeman, kidnapped a man in his car, and had a shootout with the police during which two officers were severely injured. Tamerlan tsarnaev was shot several times, and his brother ran him over while escaping in a stolen car; he died soon after.

4. My memory
I remember learning about this the day it happened. I was in the living room and I was on my phone. I decided to go on twitter and that’s when I saw the headline. I turned over to the news and it was confirmed. I was shocked. I was around during 9/11. I was too young to remember it but i had a feeling this was what everyone was doing. Sitting around a tv waiting for any news on the incident.

5. Tributes
A year after the incident the survivors of the bombing came together at the bombing site to pay tribute to those affected by the incident.
The front man of american rock band Aerosmith and the lead guitarist Joe perry performed an arrangement of their hit song “Dream on” along with the southern california childrens choir as a tribute to the bombing victims.

6. Conclusion
A lot happened in Pope francis became the first latin american pope, nelson mandela passed away, Lance armstrong admitted to using performance enhancing drugs but this horrific incident is the one that really stood out for me. The fact that this happened at what was supposed to be a fun, regular event makes me question how safe we are in this world.

7. Macintosh computer (Piece of technology I have embraced)
I have used this computer for all of my assignments. For editing e.g. Final Cut Pro, presentations e.g. microsoft powerpoint and reports e.g. microsoft word.
This piece has been the most useful for me during this course. Here’s screen grabs of the different programs I’ve used on this computer:

9. My social media (Instagram)
My favourite social media has to be Instagram. As an amateur photographer this really is the app
for me. To me Instagram is much more interesting than Facebook or twitter obviously because there are a lot of visual aids e.g. pictures and videos, which of course is the best way to keep someones attention. Plus who doesn’t love messing around with filters?
