Gas Tax Program for Municipal Allocations
Funding is to build or revitalize public infrastructure that support national objectives of productivity and economic growth, a clean environment and stronger cities and communities It provides funding to 276 recipients (271 municipalities and 5 Inuit Community Governments) is administered by the Gas Tax Secretariat, Department of Municipal Affairs

Gas Tax Program for Municipal Allocations
All recipients must sign a Ultimate Recipient Gas Tax Agreement Each recipient's agreement contains the funding allocation, a list of eligible project categories and eligible costs All projects have to be applied for and pre-approved

Application - Submission
Recipient: chooses a project completes a Capital Investment Plan application for each project, attaches a cost estimate and a resolution of council faxes to 1(709) or to For advice and support in the selection of the project or completion of the application, please call 1 (877)

Application - Review Gas Tax Secretariat:
reviews the application and supporting documentation for completeness if incomplete, contacts the recipient if complete, makes recommendation to the Gas Tax Committee on the project

Application – Decision
Gas Tax Committee compares the application to the eligible categories and eligible expenditures It can approve, reject or defer an application for more information For approved or rejected projects, the recipient will receive a letter For deferred applications, the recipient will get a phone call As soon as the information is received, deferred applications are placed on the next agenda

Application - Decision
For approved projects recipients are reminded they are required to: follow the Public Tender Act (PTA) in awarding the work obtain all environmental permits (as required) arrange all inspections (as required)

Reporting Recipients must submit:
audited Annual Expenditure Report (March 31) Outcomes Report (as project is completed) Fax to 1(709) or to

Payments Payments are made twice a year to recipients who are in compliance and have approved projects Recipients are in compliance if: all reports are received, complete and match the GTS’s records and the recipient's auditor has indicated the recipient is in compliance Recipients who are not compliant are notified by the GTS. Once the issues are resolved, payments resume
