The students will compare and contrast segregation in the North with segregation in the South. Hand In: Independent Questions from yesterday Drill: Read “One American’s Story”, including “A Personal Voice” on page 717 and answer the following: 1. Who or what motivated Alice Walker to engage in the Civil Rights of movement of the 1960s? 2. What did Alice Walker do to help African- Americans during the Civil Rights movement?

How did the ideas of Malcolm X differ from those of Martin Luther King? 4. What were some accomplishments of the civil rights movement? 5. Why was the public reaction to the Black Panthers mixed?

8 Exit-Ticket Compare segregation in the North with segregation in the South by using examples from the text.

9 Homework 1. Read Chapter 21 and prepare for test assignment on Friday.
