The management s usually located in one central area and the merchandising is handled from one central location.

Offer lines of merchandise in three categories:

Home furnishing, appliances, radios, and televisions
General- apparel, accessories, and household linens

Extensive assortments within the variety

5. Discount store Utilize self-service, operate at low profit margins
Merchandise may be seconds or overruns of a major brand
Example: Kohl’s

6. manufacturer Specialize in one kind of apparel
Carry their own lines of merchandise
Example: Coach

7. Outlet store Appeal to shoppers looking for a good buy
Name brands offered for a reduced price
