1 DESY contributions to MAPS DESY testbeam
DESY Introduction Ingrid-Maria Gregor, DESY DESY contributions to MAPS DESY testbeam JRA1 Brainstorming Meeting DESY, Hamburg 3.-4. November 2005

2 DESY contribution to MAPS
F1 group: mainly working on ZEUS, experienced in many aspects from readout to analysis Device simulations (Uni Hamburg) Chip tests: radioactive sources, beam-tests Radiation studies Power consumption and cooling studies: simulations and tests Mechanical layout Physics simulations: optimization of VXD design

3 Cooling and Mechanical Design
mechanical CAD design of detector cooling test set-up with evaporative C3F8 with 600 mm capillaries with dummy 30 mm glass plates with evaporated Al-resistors to simulate power detailed FE heat transfers simulations to understand the experimental results need 1kW cooling for vertex detect. if no power cycling pulsed powering test of MIMOSA- 5 (in preparation) Ingrid-Maria Gregor, DESY Introduction

4 Beam Test Results reproducing Strasbourg results
bremsstrahlungs/conversion beam with Ee up to 6 GeV reference telescope with 2mm resolution (multiple scattering is larger!) cooling down to -15°C (needed for irradiated detectors) Results: 20e noise - 790e signal (9pix) Ingrid-Maria Gregor, DESY Introduction 20 790

5 Beam Test Results-2 Noise vs temperature:
Noise is proportional to (Ileak)1/2 20e 10e Efficiency depends on cut on S/Nseed and (due to multiple scattering) on distance predicted - reconstructed e > 99% Charge sharing between pixels agrees ~ with simulations Spatial resolution << 10mm multiple scattering !!!

6 DESY Testbeam Testbeam 24 -> 15:30
bremsstrahlungs/conversion beam with Ee up to 6 GeV Can select beam momentum is chosen by magnet current Rates depending on energy, metal, collimator setting and operation Ingrid-Maria Gregor, DESY Introduction Rates Target Energy 3mm Cu 1mm Cu 1 GeV ~330 Hz ~ 220Hz 2 GeV ~500 Hz 3 GeV ~1000 Hz ~660 Hz 5 GeV 6 GeV ~250 Hz ~160 Hz Testbeam 24 -> 15:30

7 Summary We are experienced in
Ingrid-Maria Gregor, DESY Introduction We are experienced in Running MAPS detectors/pixel detectors Setting up and operating testbeams/telescopes Cooling and mechanical designs We are interested in the integration of all the subcomponents to make a nice telescope !
