6 A Day in the Life of a BCH Cougar
Rise and shine! Your day begins at 7:10 a.m. Seven classes during the day– some core and some electives. Your test scores will determine how many electives. A Lunch or B Lunch-- not all 9th Graders eat at the same time Do you know where your locker is? All these colored hallways! School day dismisses at 2:05 p.m.! Time for sports, clubs, activities, tutoring, or homework.

9 How do I get placed into an Honors, A.P., AICE, or Dual Enrollment?????
A willingness to enthusiastically enter into class discussions Advanced or proficient standardized FSA test results which correlate to target area(s) of study (Level 3 or higher) An ability to deal with special learning opportunities and some extra demands Consideration will be given to the student's overall academic record (not just one course) Determining factors include language skills, developed writing skills, consistent effort, attitude, and general academic performance Specific requirements for DE classes (including PERT scores, PSAT, ACT and/or SAT scores)

11 High School Graduation Requirements
Earn 24 credits Earn Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 un-weighted or higher on a 4.0 scale Pass the State English/Language Arts Assessment Pass the Algebra End of Course Exam (EOC) Complete one on-line course

12 What classes do I have to take????
WORLD HISTORY 4 credits of MATH U.S. HISTORY 3 credits of SOCIAL STUDIES 4 credits of ENGLISH Including ALGEBRA 1 & GEOMETRY!! 3 credits of SCIENCE ECONOMICS & AMERICAN GOV’T Must include Biology 1!!

13 What classes do I have to take????
Do I need to take a World Language Class??? No . . . BUT!!! It is required for Bright Futures & state university admissions 2-3 years of the same world language is recommended

14 What classes do I have to take????
1 credit in a Fine or Performing Art 1 credit in physical education and health (H.O.P.E.) 8 other Elective credits

Encourage participation in athletics, clubs, & performing arts Get involved with as much as you can and keep grades up Build school spirit Only 1 shot at your high school years 3 athletic seasons – be a multisport athlete Clubs enhance personal interest and classroom experiences Performing arts are incredible at BCHS Band, Choir, Drama JROTC provides multiple opportunities to serve and learn
