2. Transaction Attributes
Each Transaction in the eiConsole / eiPlatform has both data (the content of the message) and transaction attributes (headers). Transaction attributes are named Java Objects which can be get and set using their names. Most Listeners create transaction attributes to identify source information, such as the name of the source file or the URL that a HTTP message was posted from. Users can utilize transaction attributes in configuration items, through Processors, and even in transformations.

3. Getting and Setting Attributes
To get or set a Transaction Attribute in the Data Mapper, you can use a drag-and-drop item under “Custom” → “Attributes” in the tool palette. There is one called “Get Attribute” and another called “Set Attribute.” To use attributes in configuration items, you can use either the “{attribute:attribute_name}” syntax or the “{ognl:getAttribute(“attribute_name”)}” syntax. Processors are also used frequently to define and alter attributes.
