3 Number and Number Processes
Primary 5 Second Level Number and Number Processes Revisit all previously taught times tables and introduce x6, x7 & x8 Round 3 digit numbers to the nearest 10/100 Read, write and order numbers to 10,000s Recognise tenths as decimal notation Order numbers containing tenths Add and subtract decimal numbers with one decimal place Buy items within a budget Find fractions of whole numbers Add and subtract whole numbers up to 4 digits(with and without carrying, with and without exchanging) Multiply and divide whole numbers up to 4 digits by a single digit(with and without carrying)

4 Primary Six –Second Level
Number and Number Processes Recognise figures to s (read, write, count and order) Recognise hundredths as decimal notation Order numbers containing hundredths Add, subtract, multiply and divide decimal numbers with 2 decimal places Round 4 digit numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000 Work out the most effective offer:- BOGOF and 3 for 2 Calculate simple profit and loss Know equivalence of percentages, decimals and fractions Use add, subtract, multiply and divide to calculate the value of a letter in calculations(simple equations) Multiply multiples of 10 e.g. 20 x 40

5 Primary Seven –Second Level
Number and Number processes Read, write, count and order figures to Round numbers containing tenths and hundredths to the nearest whole number Use BOMDAS Use negative numbers in context Order positive and negative numbers Add, subtract, multiply and divide with at least 4 digits and up to 3 decimal places Recognise multiples, factors and prime numbers Find equivalent fractions and simplify fractions Equate fractions, decimals and percentages Find percentages of numbers Identify interest rates of various bank cards Calculate the value of a letter in an equation using the 4 processes(simple and complex)

6 Oral / Mental Maths Strategies
Number and Number Processes Big Maths Beat That – ‘Learn Its’ and weekly challenge in terms 2 and 4. P5 – 42 questions(60 seconds) P6 & P7 – 72 questions(100 seconds Switcher facts – e.g =13, =13 Fact Families = x 9 = 36 6 + 7 = x 4 = 36 = ÷4 = 9 = ÷9 = 4 Jigsaw numbers to 100 Smile multiplication(30 x 70) Coin multiplication(x1, x2, x5, x10, x20, x50, x100) Whiteboards - show me ‘brainscanners’ Getting pupils to explain their answers/ strategies used Estimate / Calculate / Check – a reasonable answer?

7 How can you help at home? Practise ‘Learn Its’ / Times tables with your child. Ask them to give switcher fact/ fact family of a given sum. Numbers before / after, 10 more than 26, 34, number sequences etc Time – read times on digital and analogue clocks, use 12 and 24 hr clock Provide opportunities to count out amounts of money / calculate change. Identify and use 3D shape names e.g. shopping items Websites: Mad 4 Maths, BBC Bitesize Woodlands Junior School I.C.T. games, Sumdog, Purple Mash
