Programme Goals and Objectives
To strengthen capacity of the South African Department of Health to provide quality and sustainable clinical care for HIV-infected patients with complicated HIV and HIV/TB treatment management, including 2nd and 3rd line and other antiretroviral therapy.

Health Systems Strengthening ART and TB Drug Resistance
Programme Overview Training Program Two day ACC Training special focus on Doctors & Pharmacists Case-based & Interactive IDU Specialist Trainers District trainers Health Systems Strengthening File and Facility Audits for identification of gaps that contribute to ongoing morbidity and mortality Strengthening Referral Pathways Technology-based HCWs support /helplines Distribution of Materials & Resources DoH Transition Regular engagement with DMT/RTC in developing and implementing activities All training and HSS activities conducted with DMT and regional specialists to ensure sustainability ART and TB Drug Resistance Collaboration with NHLS Surveillance on transmitted and acquired genotypic mutations conferring ART resistance in KwaZulu-Natal

HIV & TB Advanced Clinic Care Management Training Workshops
Didactic & Interactive Case-based Training - 2 day Complex HIV and TB Management Workshop - Ad hoc Trainings as requested by the District DoH Trainers/Speakers - Majority of speakers are DoH staff members - District doctors encouraged to present sessions - Specialist IDU Physicians invited as Trainers Distribution of Guidelines, Dosing charts and Algorithms - Pocket-sized version of current HIV and TB Treatment guidelines - Opportunity to advertise helplines (MDR TB, Paediatric, NHLS) - Distribution of GXP algorithm, paediatric dosing chart
