Aims To facilitate the embedding of Cross Cutting Themes within the curriculum, thus enabling your learners to become critical thinkers. Objectives By the end of this session you will have; Evaluated your role within the classroom/curriculum/vocational area at Coleg Powys. Identify what a global learner looks like. Identified the importance of being a global citizen. Explore ways to embed CCT within the curriculum. Recorded the relevance of CCT - to be used within your curriculum. Highlight your own contribution to a more sustainable world.

Task 2 What does a global learner look like? Meet Barbie and Ken As you can see they need some new clothes. Using ‘post-its’ Think of as many words and/or phases you can to describe a good global learner Girls against the boys – first to complete their wardrobe gets a prize ESDGC

Task 3 Identify the importance of being a global citizen. Using the statements provided build a pyramid starting with the most important statement at the top. Feedback to the group. Welsh language and Welsh culture

Task 4 Explore ways to embed CCT within the curriculum Working in groups of Four: Agree on a session topic or activity. Through discussion ‘thought shower’ ways to embed CCT within that session/activity. Feedback to the group

Task 5 Record the relevance of CCT - to be used within your curriculum. As a guardian of your learners’ journey to becoming an active global citizen: Step 1 In your groups: Each create a statement to engage and enthuse your learners’ to share the skills, behaviours and attitudes needed to succeed in a global community. For example ESW

Step 2 Become roving reporters ( record an interview with your group) Individual statement (each person in your group to make a contribution) Super singing star (create a jingle promoting Global citizenship) NOW Record your statement into the microphone

Task 6 Highlight your own contribution to a more sustainable world. On a ‘post it’ state one thing that you have done in the last 24hrs to help create a more sustainable world Please stick it on the display on your way out.
