Each December nominations ballots are mailed to members and must be returned by January to Pricewaterhouse Coopers, an accounting firm.
Each respective category selects nominees (e.g. editors vote for Best Film Editing etc.)
All members can vote for Best Picture after selecting from their respective categories.
Final nominations are announced in the third week of January each year.
Final ballots are mailed in late January. They must be returned a week before the ceremony.
