Families Mothers begin to enter work force In the past 1940 -1960
Nuclear family- father, mother, children Mothers begin to enter work force Single parent families are becoming more common. Orphanages not seen as much (group homes), Today More foster care, adoptions Grandparents raising their grandchildren. Teen parenting In the beginning, there was the nuclear family-the father financially supporting the family and the mother (have to be married) looking after their children and their home. Between 1940 and 1960, the number of homes with mothers and fathers both working increased significantly. The economic benefits of being employed, combined with escalating divorce rates and an increase in never-married mothers, led to a greater need for child care. Gay and lesbian families are becoming more acceptable in today’s society. Even people who are unable to have children themselves, adoption or fostering is more available due to the decline in orphanages and is looked at as another family structure in society. But the latest trend is, grandparents raising their grandchildren. With mothers becoming even younger, we are seeing the burden of raising the children fall upon the older generation. WWII
