1 Calling ALL educators! 2017 stem Teacher Workshops
Focus on Science & Literature ($80.00): With guidance from the Project WILD, Project Learning Tree, and Project WET curriculum guides participants will explore how to engage students in nature using environmentally themed children’s books. This workshop is geared toward helping K-5 educators and meet Washington State NGSS using literature in the science content area. 12 FREE clock hours. June –Pasco, WA July –Olympia, WA July – Everett, WA July – Wenatchee, WA July – Yakima, WA Growing Up WILD Workshop ($40.00): Growing Up WILD is an early childhood education program that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them. This provides an early foundation for developing positive impressions about the natural world and lifelong social and academic skills. Growing Up WILD is geared toward Pre-K - 2nd grade teachers. 6 FREE clock hours. June 29 –Pasco, WA July 6 – Spokane, WA Natural Resources Workshop ($50.00*): This three day workshop focuses on forestry, water resources and agriculture. Teachers will receive lessons and guides from Project Learning Tree, Project WET and Project WILD as well as learn about agriculture in our region and the Spokane Aquifer. This workshop is for K-12 educators. 18 FREE clock hours. July – Spokane, WA * Cost is $125, but a $75 scholarship is provided Mining & Minerals Workshop (FREE): K-12 teachers spend 2 days in the classroom learning about uses of minerals, mineral extraction, mine reclamation, and aggregates. Teachers rock and mineral kits, Out of the Rock Activity guides, resource materials, posters and lots more. Friday is spent in the Silver Valley for mine and refinery tours. 24 FREE clock hours.
