6. High school credits Yearlong Course (1.0 credits) Semester Course
By passing all of your classes each semester, you will earn 6.0 credits each year of High School
6 credits x 4 years = 24 total credits
A transcript is the official record of your high school classes and credits

7. What is gpa?
Grade Point Average (GPA) is the average of all of your high school grades.
Students earn a GPA for each semester of high school and their cumulative GPA is the average of all of those numbers.

8. Why is GPA so important?
Colleges use this number to measure your overall performance in school and compare you to other students. The higher your GPA, the better your chances are of getting into the college of your choice.
Your GPA can determine whether or not you’re eligible to participate in certain courses during your junior and senior years of high school (such as YVTECH & Running Start)
Your GPA is a major consideration for both academic and athletic college scholarships, as well as financial aid.
Maintaining a high GPA can qualify students for academic excellence awards, the honor roll, and admission to student organizations such as the National Honor Society
Falling below a certain GPA score may put you at risk for academic probation, expulsion, or inability to graduate.
Employers may ask for your GPA when determining whether or not to hire you

This line shows your total earned credits & your cumulative GPA
This indicates which state tests you have passed
This indicates if you have passed WA State History

10. Registration Process Course Registration Presentation
Students complete their Registration Worksheet – Place in SCOTS portfolio
Parents will approve course requests at conferences
Counselor will work with students to input their course requests into Skyward
Counselor will build schedules

11. Course request expectations
The master schedule is developed based on courses requested.
When you request a course, you commit to completing the course in its entirety to the best of your ability.
Students may request a schedule change before the end of the first week of school but only requests based on legitimate academic reasons will be considered.
Course changes after the first week of a course will result in an “F” posted to the student’s transcript.

17. College in the high school
College in the High School is a state funded way for high school juniors and seniors to earn college credit and fulfill their high school graduation requirements all at the same time. 
Cost: $55/credit
Students that are eligible for Free/Reduced Lunch can apply to have 5 credits paid for by a grant

Juniors and Seniors have the option of participating in the Running Start Program.
Running Start students are eligible for part-time or full-time enrollment at YVCC.
All tuition is paid but students have to provide their own transportation and pay for fees and books.
