one of the founding "big four“ of thrash metal
(others are Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax)

5. Metallica was the first band to have five consecutive album debut at number one on the billboard 200.
Billboard 200 is a ranking of the 200 highest selling music albums in the US.
As of 2010 the band has sold more than 100 million albums all over the world.

6. Their third album “Master of Puppets“ was described the most influential.
They achieved commercial succsess with their fifth album “The Black Album”. With this release they earned a more mainstream audience.
