2. What does the EC classroom look like?
Structured and organized
Visually centered
Based on a work/break system
Language/music rich environment
Simple verbiage, picture icons, sign language
Routine and predictable

3. How is it structured?
The EC class is structured in a way that makes sense to a toddler. It is open concept with clearly marked spaces.
The spaces are organized and clutter free to create a sense of peace and cleanliness

4. Visual learning
Visual learning in the EC classroom consists of labeling areas with pictures
Using icons to enrich vocabulary
Multi-sensory curriculum (learning styles)

5. Work/Break System
Our daily schedule is clearly marked for the child to see and participate in
Our schedule is structured for a toddlers attention span. Short and sweet.
We use reinforcers and sensory breaks as needed and accommodate the active child with lap pads and movement opportunities.

6. Language/Music RICH!
Most of our population has speech/language needs with specific IEP goals targeting individual needs
We use assistive technology ranging from communication boards to IPADS, icon requesting and self- talking equipment to teach language
Our structured activities are based on music and books with loads of pictures and movement activities

7. Simple and Specific
The direction and instruction an Early Childhood student receives is presented in a way that they can understand. The mean length of a statement is 2-4 utterances. Directions are given in simple one to two step processes and physical prompting is sometimes used to complete the task.
All teachers uses consistent language
A cool down area is provided for tantrums with a method specific for each child as outlined in their BIPS

8. Routine and Predictable
This is the key to a successful EC classroom.
They have a sense of peace and ease in their environment daily
Consistency and positivity are essential to learning.
Every student has a unique way of learning with specific needs to their disability
We are here to prepare them for success!

Curriculum is aligned with the Preschool Guidelines and modified to accommodate the EC population
A student’s behavioral needs, language deficits, and academic weaknesses determine the accommodations they receive in instruction.
My goal is to provide your child with the opportunity for success in their Least Restrictive environment.
