Why are the mentors here?
“Mentoring played a very big role in making my decision to pursue my current area of study. It is very difficult to navigate this career process without knowing someone who is doing it or has done it and I hope to be that person for whoever wants help.” “I think that the best way I can show my appreciation for my own mentors is to pay it forward.” “The process of applying to graduate school can be stressful, and it's important for students to have a support system of people giving them advice, encouraging them as they go, and congratulating them for completing each step. I would love to be a part of that system!”

What are the mentees hoping to gain from GUM?
Detailed knowledge about the grad school application process and how to be a competitive applicant Connections and friendship with fellow undergraduate students and with graduate students The chance to talk with someone who understands how overwhelming making decisions about and applying to grad school can be Insight and clarity regarding the graduate school experience and navigating the professional world
