2 YASS Meeting Could all S6 pupils that have enrolled to a YASS course attend a meeting in the seminar room this Friday 9.35am.

This Friday, we welcome two former pupils back to our school. Cally Russell and Sam Coley will share their experience and expertise of setting up successful creative online businesses to all S3-6 pupils. Please register with your class teacher (Friday 27th October) who will then escort you to the forum at the times stated below: S3 and S4 – Period 2 S5 and S6 – Period 3

5 'Embrace' West Coast Cinema in Dunoon will hold and exclusive screening of ‘Embrace’, a social impact documentary that explores the issues of body image, on Tuesday 7th November 2017 at 7.45pm. The West Coast Cinema is the only outlet in Scotland to show this culturally vital film at this time. Embrace is told from the point of view of Australian mother- of-three Taryn Brumfitt as she travels the world talking to experts, women in the street and well-known personalities about the increasing rate of body image issues that are seen in people of all body types. Tickets cost £8 and are available online at

6 Halloween Movie Night Monday 30th October at 7pm
Tickets will be on sale in the forum THIS WEEK by Emily Somerville and Georgia Dineley. £2.50 per ticket 1 movie for 1st to 3rd year 1 movie for 4th to 6th year S4-6 pupils are welcome to attend the S1-3 movie if they prefer. (movies are to be confirmed)

7 Senior Pupils: 1st Cowal Boys Brigade
Volunteers are needed to help with the 1st Cowal Boys Brigade and Girls Association which is on Wednesday evenings at DGS. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wishes to work with children in the future and it will also look great on your CV. Any senior pupils who are interested, please speak to Kirsty Clark for more details.

We made £72 Well done to Mr Abbott’s C5 house class for winning the rainbow cake. We hope you enjoyed it! From everyone in the Learning Centre.

11 Ski Trip – Italy Jan/Feb 2019
Are you interested in coming along on the Ski Trip to Italy in Jan/Feb 2019??? If so, pick up an information letter from Mr Reid in the Guidance Office. It doesn’t matter if you have skied before or not. Beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers are all welcome!

12 WORLD RECORDS DAY!! To raise money for Olly’s Bothy, which is Milton’s chosen house charity, we are holding a World Records Day. One person from each house group competes against each other to try and break various world records! EXAMPLES: MOST M&M’S EATEN IN 1 MINUTE WHILST BLINDFOLDED, USING CHOPSTICKS. CURRENT RECORD – 20 M&M’S. MOST MARSHMALLOWS EATEN IN 1 MINUTE. CURRENT RECORD – 25 MARSHMALLOWS.

13 WORLD RECORDS DAY!! For each of the 20 record attempts, the house group that scores closest to the existing world record scores 200 points, second place scores 100 points and third and fourth place score 50. The house group that earns the most points overall wins! If you are in S4-6 and would like to take part, there is a sign up sheet on the whiteboard in the forum (next to the canteen) or speak to Libby MacLean or Ewan Robinson. If you would like to help out or have any questions please speak to Libby or Ewan. Tickets will be on sale for observers when a date and time is confirmed!

14 Strachur Piping School
Strachur Piping School has started again for this season. It is in the Strachur Memorial Hall every FRIDAY night from 7–8pm. It is entirely free – all you need is a chanter. If you are unsure, come along and give it a try!

15 Breakfast Club Life Skills Room (next to the new Platform) Opening times: 8.15 – 8.40 am This club is open to everyone, does not cost anything and you do not need to stay for the full time. Monday - Thursday there will be cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts and cereal bars. Friday there will be hot rolls (you must attend on a previous day to order your hot roll).

16 Chess Club Chess Club will start TODAY (Friday 27th October) in E217 from 12:20pm. All pupils welcome.
