(A) Hand-held electronic thermometer with disposable probe covers reduces the risk of cross-contamination. (B) This device interfaces with the electronic medical record (EMR). By scanning the patient's hospital identification bracelet, two-way wireless communication links ID numbers to patient names for positive identification at the bedside. The unit measures temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation levels (pulse oximetry). The device reduces time required and potential errors of manual documentation as data are relayed directly to the EMR. Manual data may also be entered (e.g., respiratory rate).
