3 What was the Permanent Indian Frontier?
In 1832, the US Government granted the Native Americans the Great Plains This was to belong to them forever The whites had no interest – referred to it as the Great American Desest However...this would change for a number of reasons and ultimately led to the struggle for the Plains

4 Why did the whites decide that the wanted the Plains after all?
In your pairs, reflect on what you have learnt so far – why did the whites go onto the Plains? Which factor was most influential?

5 Why could the Indians and Whites not tolerate each other despite these factors?

7 The Map! You will now draw a map to show how the Indians gradually lost their land and their way of life as the whites moved onto the Plains... You need to know what Reservations were!
