Forthcoming new GSICS products in 2015 A) GEO-LEO-VISNIR (multiple calibration methods blended product) B) GSICS Prime correction for GEO-LEO-IR (multiple references blended product) To store these products on the THREDDS server, directory structures must be changed Purpose of this presentation To introduce the GRWG proposal To discuss the feasibility, and accept the proposal or provide alternative solutions to GRWG

GRWG requirements for updating the THREDDS directory structure for new GSICS products
A) GEO-LEO-VISNIR File naming: follows existing GEO-LEO-IR GSCIS Correction New algorithm type: GEOLEOVISNIR (GEO-LEO visible and near infrared) New reference instrument: Aqua/MODIS B) GSICS Prime Correction for GEO-LEO-IR File naming: follows existing GEO-LEO-IR, but WITHOUT REFERENCE NAME Big impact on the THREDDS directory structure (next slide) easy to implement in the THRDDS. Just to add new directories for the new products. MSG2 SEVIRI calibrated against Aqua MODIS

GRWG proposal is available on: New directory for the Prime Correction forthcoming GEO-LEO-IR Prime Correction W_XX-EUMETSAT-Darmstadt,SATCAL+NRTC+GEOLEOVISNIR,MSG2+SEVIRI_C_EUMG_ _preop_01.nc forthcoming GEO-LEO-VISNIR Prime Correction New directory for individual references (= existing GEO-LEO-IR GSICS Corrections) MSG2 SEVIRI calibrated against Aqua MODIS forthcoming GEO-LEO-VISNIR GSICS Correction The same structures as those for NRTC

The GDWG accepted/rejected the GRWG proposal because… Resources Needed: Man Days Effort: Prepare a documentation to update the THREDDS directory configuration – 1 week. Implementation on the CMA/EUMETSAT/NOAA THREDDS servers – 2 weeks. HW & SW Procurements: not applicable Input Data Acquisition Effort: new GSICS products (GEO-LEO-VISNIR, GSICS Prime Correction) Proposed Time Scale: GEO-LEO-VISNIR product and GEO-LEO-IR Prime Correction will become available in 2015, so this change should be done by the 2016 GSICS annual meeting Deliverables: New THREDDS configuration Priority of the Task: High – by the next GSCIS annual meeting

Agenda item summary; assign action identifier, make EP recommendations and propose a lead for the action (to be updated in the discussion) Action Identifier: GDWG_15.XX EUMETSAT/NOAA/CMA to update THREDDS directory configuration for new GSICS products. Substantial effort if required by the GDWG, GDWG chair should inform this activity to GSICS Executive Panel, and ask for feedback regarding: Should GDWG resources be used to update the THREDDS directory configuration. The GDWG estimates 3 weeks (3 weeks for EUMETSAT, 2 weeks for CMA and NOAA) of resources is needed to support this action. Identify the Working Group Member Taking the Lead on this Action: EUMETSAT The EP is invited to comment on this if the action is to be performed.
