Routines Maths and English every morning Daily Guided Reading
Daily Phonics History, Geography, DT and Art taught through Topic Science Modules throughout the year Twice weekly PE on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons Meet WALT Child initiated time during the afternoons, gradually reducing throughout the year.

Homework Reading books daily Sound cards daily
Weekly homework task (20 mins) based extending what we have learned in class. Homework tasks set on Thursdays and handed in on Tuesdays.

What your child needs Water bottle- named!
Reading book and signed reading diary in book bag PE kit-note colours School shoes everyday A coat when cold or wet Wellington Boots for our new Mud Kitchen! Permission slips and money to be given by child to class teacher as soon as possible All items to be clearly named

Assessment without levels
Age expectations-emerging, expected (met) or exceeding will be reported annually and officially assessed in year 2 and 6 Parent consultations will report next step targets Online database used by teachers to plan objectives and to assess on a weekly basis after lessons. This is then used to inform tracking of progress and target setting.

Year 1 Phonics Check Nation wide check for all children in Year 1 takes place in June. List of 40 words the children will read to me 1:1. Real and ‘alien’ words. Pass mark released after administration. Check to see if met the expected standard in phonics by the end of year 1.
