Canyons Deep valleys with steep sides
Often a river or stream run along the bottom of a valley or canyon

Plateaus High landforms with flat surfaces
Often found along the tops of canyons Can extend for many miles

Mesa Similar to plateaus, but smaller Spanish word for “table”

Plains Broad and flat Lower than their surroundings

River Valley A river flowing (usually through a valley)

Flood Plain Floor of a river valley on either side of the river
Water covers when it overflows Can be hundreds of km wide
