Wind-o-nater

2 Generator Design (4) 1x2x5 cm. ceramic magnets (1) 8 cm. nail
(600 ft. ) 30 gauge magnet wire (1) 8 cm. x 30.4 cm. cardboard strip (4) strips of duct tape (1) tie-wrap

3 Windmill Design (1) used box fan blade (1) 3/4 in. hardwood dowel
(1) 5/6 in. PVC pipe (1) 8 cm. nail (1) tube of silicone sealant (2) 24x18 cm. boards cut to size (1) 3 in. PVC pipe Miscellaneous duct tape

4 Electrical and Mechanical Aspects
AC current Magnetic generator Magnets and magnetic wire completing a circuit LED light bulb Blade turning wooden dowel Wooden dowel turning the magnets in the generator Wooden dowel rotating in PVC creating friction

5 Efficiency P generated= 2.7Volts
ρ=1.225 kg/m3 V=7.5 m/s Area= m2 Power=.5(ρ)AV3 η= efficiency = P generated= 2.7Volts P wind = (.5)(1.225kg/m3)(0.203m2)(7.5 m/s)3 = 52.4Volts η= efficiency = (2.7V/52.4V )(100)= 5.16%

6 Design/Construction Issues
Nail in generator would not stay still Windmill moves when wind speed reaches a certain max Board support not sturdy enough

7 Conclusions Easy to build Only minor complications Very cost efficient
Surprisingly not as efficient as expected 
