Eurobarometer survey from December 2013 Understand views and attitudes from SMEs towards green jobs, resource efficiency and green markets Results show that in 2013 European SMEs added more green jobs, made improvements in resource efficiency and are contributing to the transition to a low carbon economy smes answered

4 How green are European SMEs?
There are 20 million green jobs in SMEs across Europe 4 out of 10 SMEs have at least one full time or part time green employee Green job: One that directly works with information, technologies or materials that preserves or restores environmental quality. This requires specilized skills, knowledge, training or experience

93% of SMEs are taking at least one action to be more resource efficient minimise waste, save energy (both 67%) save materials (59%) 8 out of 10 SMEs are planning additional resource efficiency actions in the next two years

Highlighting success stories of entrepreneurship promotion local authorities and public-private partnerships eligible 6 categories including ‘successful projects to boost the green economy’ National competition starts now Each country selects 2 entries by May Awards given during European SME assembly (Naples 1-2 October) Check national deadlines Objectives: identify and recognise successful activities and initiatives undertaken to promote enterprise and entrepreneurship showcase and share examples of best entrepreneurship policies and practices create a greater awareness of the role entrepreneurs play in society encourage and inspire potential entrepreneurs. Awards categories: Promoting the Entrepreneurial Spirit Investing in Skills Improving the Business Environment Supporting the Internationalisation of Business Responsible and Inclusive Entrepreneurship successful projects to boost the green economy NATIONAL DEADLINES Still possible to send entries in some countries Many deadline around mid-June
