3 ARCADIA WHO ARE WE? Arcadia is the UK’s largest privately owned fashion retailer with seven major high street brands: Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Evans, Miss Selfridge, Topshop, Topman and Wallis, along with our out-of-town fashion destination Outfit. It’s not just about the UK high street; with transactional websites, social media and over 680 global locations, our presence is felt all over the world. It takes exceptional people to keep so many different brands at the forefront of our rapidly changing industry. Our people demonstrate a great combination of key commercial skills and real passion for our business.

5 ARCADIA OUR HISTORY, THE STORY SO FAR… 1900’s: Group Began Life As Burton, 1960’s: TOPSHOP Was Born And The Burton Group Formed, 1970’s: Dorothy Perkins Was Acquired By The Burton Group, TOPMAN Launches, 1980’s & 1990’s Burton Group Becomes Arcadia Group, We Acquire Wallis, Miss Selfridge & OUTFIT, 2000’s: Arcadia Group Became Part of Taveta Investments. OK, so looking at Arcadia in a little more detail – the history of our brands goes back some time. Our oldest brand is Burton, and our newest is Outfit Sir Phillip Green bought out the Arcadia Group in 2002, so with the Company for 10 years this year. FRA - In 2005 the Fashion Retail Academy was launched, and is sponsored by 4 retailers (Arcadia, M&S, Tesco and Next): 105 Retailers now involved In 2012, Arcadia offer over 200 graduate placements in MAA, BAA, Finance and E-Commerce Our history begins in 1903 when Montague Burton opened his first store in Chesterfield. In 1919, Dorothy Perkins was founded, named after a rose 1923 – Wallis founded 1928 – BHS opened its first store in Brixton selling everything for under a shilling 1930 – Evans founded 1964 – Topshop is launched as the young fashion department of Peter Robinson 1966 – Miss Selfridge is born 1978 – Topman is launched as the young male counterpart to TS Becoming more up to date – in 1995 Outfit is launched 2000 – Philip Green acquires BHS, followed by the Green family buying the Arcadia Group in 2002, making the Arcadia Group the largest privately owned retail group in the UK In 2005 the Fashion Retail Academy was launched, and is sponsored by 4 retailers (Arcadia, M&S, Tesco and Next) In 2009 BHS integrated with Arcadia, bring BHS in line with Arcadia on many points such as ethical trading and fashion footprint (which we will consider in more detail later). BHS Menswear and Burton have merged and the teams are now essentially buying for both brands. As part of this, Burton moved across to one of our offices in Marylebone. The integration has also enabled the insert programme to take place. This is where other Arcadia brands (BM, WL, EV & DP) are inserted into BHS stores.
