[ Pastor / CONGREGATION ]
THE CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 98 [ Pastor / CONGREGATION ]
19
Minister: Oh sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done marvelous things! His right hand and His holy arm have worked salvation for Him. People: The LORD has made known His salvation; He has revealed His righteousness in the sight of the nations.
20
Minister: He has remembered His steadfast love and faithfulness to the house of Israel. All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. People: Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!
21
*Confession of Faith (Apostles’ Creed) I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell
22
The third day He rose again from the dead
The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
23
I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
24
Corporate Prayer of Confession ALL: O Lord, I marvel that You become flesh so that You might be crucified, dead, and buried for me. The tomb calls forth my adoring wonder, for it is empty and You are risen!
25
Grant me to die with You that I may rise to new life, for I wish to be as dead and buried to sin, to selfishness, to the world; that I might not hear the voice of the charmer, and might be delivered from his lusts.
26
Purge me from selfishness, pride, and the fear of man
Purge me from selfishness, pride, and the fear of man. Grant me to stand with my dying Savior, to be content to be rejected, to be willing to hold to unpopular truths.
27
Grant me more and more of the resurrection life: may it rule me, may I walk in its power, and be strengthened through its influence.
28
SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION
29
Assurance of Pardon (Romans 5
Assurance of Pardon (Romans 5.10) Minister: For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life. The peace of the Lord be with you always. People: And also with you.

WHEN WE ALL GET TO HEAVEN HYMN # 772
31
Sing the wondrous love of Jesus, Sing His mercy and His grace; In the mansions bright and blessed He’ll prepare for us a place.
32
When we all, get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all, get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all, see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory!
33
While we walk the pilgrim pathway Clouds will overspread the sky; But when trav’ling days are over, Not a shadow not a sigh.
34
When we all, get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all, get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all, see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory!
35
Let us then be true and faithful, Trusting, serving every day; Just one glimpse of Him in glory Will the toils of life repay.
36
When we all, get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all, get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all, see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory!
37
Onward to the prize before us
Onward to the prize before us! Soon His beauty we’ll behold; Soon the pearly gates will open, We shall tread the streets of gold!
38
When we all, get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all, get to heaven, What a day of rejoicing that will be! When we all, see Jesus, We’ll sing and shout the victory!

Scripture Readings: 1 Samuel 17: David Kills Goliath 32 “Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him!” 33 “Don’t be ridiculous!” Saul replied. “There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You’re only a boy, and he’s been a man of war since his youth.”
41
34 But David persisted. “I have been taking care of my father’s sheep and goats,” he said. “When a lion or a bear comes to steal a lamb from the flock, 35 I go after it with a club and rescue the lamb from its mouth. If the animal turns on me, I catch it by the jaw and club it to death.
42
36 I have done this to both lions and bears, and I’ll do it to this pagan Philistine, too, for he has defied the armies of the living God! 37 The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!” Saul finally consented. “All right, go ahead,” he said. “And may the Lord be with you!”
43
38 Then Saul gave David his own armor—a bronze helmet and a coat of mail. 39 David put it on, strapped the sword over it, and took a step or two to see what it was like, for he had never worn such things before. “I can’t go in these,” he protested to Saul. “I’m not used to them.” So David took them off again.
44
40 He picked up five smooth stones from a stream and put them into his shepherd’s bag. Then, armed only with his shepherd’s staff and sling, he started across the valley to fight the Philistine. 41 Goliath walked out toward David with his shield bearer ahead of him, 42 sneering in contempt at this ruddy-faced boy.
45
43 “Am I a dog,” he roared at David, “that you come at me with a stick
43 “Am I a dog,” he roared at David, “that you come at me with a stick?” And he cursed David by the names of his gods. 44 “Come over here, and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and wild animals!” Goliath yelled. 45 David replied to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
46
46 Today the Lord will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head. And then I will give the dead bodies of your men to the birds and wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel! 47 And everyone assembled here will know that the Lord rescues his people, but not with sword and spear. This is the Lord’s battle, and he will give you to us!”
47
48 As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him. 49 Reaching into his shepherd’s bag and taking out a stone, he hurled it with his sling and hit the Philistine in the forehead. The stone sank in, and Goliath stumbled and fell face down on the ground.
48
50 So David triumphed over the Philistine with only a sling and a stone, for he had no sword. 51 Then David ran over and pulled Goliath’s sword from its sheath. David used it to kill him and cut off his head
49
Minister: The grass withers, and the flowers fade, but the Word of the Lord is forever. People: Thanks be to our great God

Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty Hymn # 3
51
Holy, holy, holy. Lord God Almighty
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee; Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty! God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
52
Holy, holy, holy! all the saints adore Thee, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee, Which wert and art, and evermore shalt be.
53
Holy, holy, holy! though the darkness hide Thee, Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see, Only Thou art holy; there is none beside Thee, Perfect in pow’r, in love, and purity.
54
Holy, holy, holy. Lord God Almighty
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty! All Thy works shall praise Thy name, in earth, and sky, and sea; Holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty! God in three persons, blessed Trinity!

It Is Well With My Soul Hymn # 705
62
When peace like a river attendeth my way; When sorrows like seabillows roll; Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say; “it is well, it is well with my soul”
63
It is well (it is well) with my soul (with my soul); It is well, it is well with my soul
64
Though Satan should buffet, tho’ trials should come; Let this blest assurance control; That Christ has regarded my helpless estate; And hath shed His own blood for my soul;
65
It is well (it is well) with my soul (with my soul); It is well, it is well with my soul
66
My sin O, the bliss of this glorious thought; My sin not in part but the whole; Is nailed to the cross and I bear it no more; Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul;
67
It is well (it is well) with my soul (with my soul); It is well, it is well with my soul
68
And Lord, haste the day when the faith shall be sight; The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend; Even so it is well with my soul;
69
It is well (it is well) with my soul (with my soul); It is well, it is well with my soul
