8 It’s Up to You Man A) Different college courses
The college offers you a selection of alternative courses e.g. Hair and Beauty, Hospitality, Sound Development. B) Mechanics Course in Perth 40 miles away in Perth there is a University offering the same Mechanics course with a different awarding body. The course takes 4 years from start to finish but you will need to redo what you have already done by resitting your first year. Perth is 1 hour 30 mins away on the bus. Accommodation is prioritised for those who live furthest away and will come at a cost. C) Family business Your grandad has been a Painter and Decorator for over 50 years and owns his own business. Business has been slow over the last few years, you could work for him but there is no job security or guaranteed income and you want to be a mechanic. D) Minimum wage, maximum hours job Your local shopping centre has shops, pubs and bookies. You could apply for a job here and work maximum hours on minimum wage.
