The tragic Kurdish love

Rostam Aghala was born in 1969 in Koya and is a well-known artist in this part of Kurdistan. He completed Fine Arts Institute, painting department in 1989. He has opened 12 exhibitions in cities of Hawler, Sulemany and Koya from 1989 to 2000. His works have been exhibited in Kuwait, Austria and Italy in , and in 1995 an exhibition was opened for him in France. His drawings have been printed in France and Austria in He?s participated in most of the cultural activities in Kurdistan, and has taken part in many joint exhibitions for Kurdish artists in London, Netherland, Austria and Sweden. He was awarded the second position in Kurdish Artists Exhibition in 2001 and was awarded the Red Cross poster. He participated in the Jaal international exhibition in Japan along with eight other painters in 2002. Many of his works have been printed as postcards in Kurdistan and countries abroad, and his paintings have been published in the USA, Australia, Britain, Sweden and France. He is now in charge of (Zamwa Galary) in Slemany. His works hold Kurdish and traditional features and techniques. His style in inspired by the international Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani ( ). Rostam's style is considered as a sort of renewal. He mixes Kurdish folklore with an internationally recognized trend in painting . Love is another motif in Rostam Aghala?s art. Kurdish tragic love stories have been a fertile source of inspiration reflected in many of his works.
