11 “How to Make a Dadist Poem” by Tristan Tzara
Take a newspaper. Take some scissors. Choose from this paper an article the length you want to make your poem. Cut out the article. Next carefully cut out each of the words that make up this article and put them all in a bag. Shake gently. Next take out each cutting one after the other. Copy conscientiously in the order in which they left the bag. The poem will resemble you. And there you are--an infinitely original author of charming sensibility, even though unappreciated by the vulgar herd.

12 “How to Make a Dadist Book Page Poem” ‘by’ Mrs. Wilson
Take a book page. Take a pencil. Choose from this paper words you want to make your poem. Circle or underline the words. Next carefully connect each of the words that make up the lines of your poem. Design the page any way you like, but do so carefully. Next use permanent ink, paint, or pens. Trace conscientiously and maybe add other elements, too. The poem will resemble you. And there you are--an infinitely original author of charming sensibility, even though unappreciated by the vulgar herd.

13 Circle or underline words
Page is from an art history book that was antiquated and falling apart. Page picked at random-the Dada element

14 Connect the dots… Poem says: “It is a question of explorations impossible/knowledge is inadequate:/ but I have no such “inside” insight/ analogies between the rising opposition and the continuing growth of/ formal-abstract realization./ --a decrying of ephemeral phenomena/ nature will end all discussion/ confusion perhaps is more naturally the figure of a master/ reason to some degree the experiment.

15 Now beautify

16 DONE! Example finished product. Feel free to use as a guide for your modeling, or just use your own intuition.  Have a gallery walk with sticky note comments/feedback for the students, too if you like.
